Learn + Create + Meditate

Mala Making & Meditative Art Workshops

A meaningful experience to create a malas infused with your personal energy, prayers & intentions.

During a Baja Malas workshop, we learn about the history & significance of Japa malas, take time to set our personal intentions & prayers, and then create our own 108 bead mala necklace using semi-precious gemstones inspired by Baja. As we infuse our individual energy into each bead and knot, the act of hand knotting a mala becomes a meditation in itself.

Whether you are interested in learning about malas, seeking more mindfulness in your life, craving connection to a community, or just looking to create a meaningful piece of jewelry, we keep the energy light and the learning simple so that everyone feels welcome.

You will leave this special and unique experience with a personally charged, tangible prayer to carry with you, reminding you of your deepest intentions and prayers. A handmade mala necklace makes a unique gift for someone special, too.

You can experience the meditative art of creating a mala and connecting to yourself and others through 4 different opportunities. Learn more below.

sacred beading

Sacred Beading

Women accepted the work as a sacred token or a vow in the heart, and a particular piece would come to be regarded as a form of prayer for the person it was made to honour. As they worked, beaders were urged to think good thoughts, contemplate nature and revere the tiny beads as offerings from the spirit world.
